More Conversation Pieces. “Time To make The Donuts.”

Busy making Conversation PIeces. Thought you’d like to see what part of the process looks like.  That’s me making the pointer at the end.

I’m assisted by the excellent Ben Coombs.

My Glass in the Art Institute of Chicago Fall Catalog

The new fall catalog of the Art Institute of Chicago Museum Shop is now out, and you can see my Conversation Pieces™ for sale there. Page 33. I’m very excited about that.

These are glass cartoon word balloons handblown by me in the Portland glass studio.  You can write whatever you want on the word balloons, with a dry erase marker, which comes off easily with any clean cloth.

The Conversation Pieces™have  been available since June in the Museum Shop, to coincide  with the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit that is going on there. I’m now glad that they are available to anyone, even if you can’t make it to Chicago to see the exhibit.

More Photos of Davide Salvadore making a Glass PIece

Here are a few more photos of Davide. Here he is pulling some twisty cane, and picking up some murrine.  the top photo shows two pieces put together.  There was a third piece still to be made.  The final result was his version of an ancient stringed guitar.  Pretty wild.

I don’t have a picture of the final piece because I was too busy putting it away in the annealer.

That’s me in my fire proof gettup.

Newest Conversation Pieces™ Are Here

Just added these two to my ETSY store.

I’ve been trying to come up with new words to put on these pieces.  And it’s always important to stay positive, especially about our creativity.  So, I thought Create and Dream Big, would be good places to start.

These would look great on your studio wall or in your office.

Art Institute of Chicago to Sell My Conversation Pieces™

This is great.  To coincide with their Roy Lichtenstein exhibit in May, the Museum Shop of the Art Institute of Chicago will begin selling my glass word balloons, the Conversation Pieces™. They’ll be the blank word balloons pictured here that you can write, draw, and doodle whatever you like.

So, tomorrow I go into the studio and start making 50 of these. Yeah, That’s a lot. It’ll take a couple of days, for sure.  But I’m psyched.

If you’re in Chicago in May, stop in for the exhibit, of course, but also make sure you see the Museum Shop.

Valentine’s Day Earrings Are Here

I’m offering on ETSY, these earrings that I’ve made out of murrini.  I take each individual tile and glue it to a surgical steel post for pierced ears.  You don’t have to worry about anybody else having earrings that look like this because no one does!  Each pair is totally unique. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, or any time.
